East Passage Boatwrights

EPB is based just up the road from the Herreshoff Marine Museum where Aquilla, hull #828 and the oldest in the S-Boat fleet, was built in 1919. A total of 103 S-boats were built over a thirty-one year period, including two that were built by the U.S. Navy in Hawaii. Amazingly enough, the S-boat fleet is extremely active on Narragasett Bay and on the waters of Western Long Island sound, a true testament to the brilliance to the design and the owners who care for them. EPB has worked on Aquilla for the past two winters, re-framing the forward third of the hull last year and completely refastening the plank to frame fasteners during the Spring of 2015.
